On December 3 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Johannesburg with President Alpha Condé of Guinea.
Xi Jinping pointed out that Guinea was the first sub-Saharan country in Africa to establish diplomatic relations with China and that the two nations enjoy a profound traditional friendship. When the Ebola epidemic broke out last year, China, out of its brotherly bond with Guinea, took the lead in providing assistance and China is pleased to see that Guinea has beaten the Ebola. China attaches great importance to developing its relations with Guinea and stands ready to, together with Guinea, translate their advantages of traditional friendship into impetus for bilateral cooperation and development, cement political mutual trust, boost friendly exchanges at all levels and deepen friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation, so as to bring more benefits to both peoples. China encourages its enterprises to actively participate in Guinea's industrialization construction and carry out investment cooperation with the country in agricultural production and processing. China will continue to send medical teams to Guinea and supports Guinea to establish and improve its public health and epidemic prevention system and promote its capacity building in this field.
Alpha Condé noted that both nations enjoy a time-honored friendship. Guinea is grateful to China for its long-term assistance, particularly the timely and valuable support China offered for its struggle against the Ebola. Guinea is committed to strengthening its cooperative partnership with China and hopes to expand bilateral cooperation in such fields as hydro-power and mining.
Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others were present at the meeting.
