On the afternoon of December 1, 2017 local time, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev of Russia jointly visited the venues of the Sochi Winter Olympics.
The Sochi Olympic Park is the main venue for ice sports of the Winter Olympics, consisting of six stadiums. Chinese Premier and Russian Prime Minister visited the stadium area by car and entered the Fisht Olympic Stadium, the place holding the opening and closing ceremonies during the Sochi Winter Olympics. The stadium, named after the peak of Caucasus Mountains, has a glass roof as main structure which is not only bright but also energy efficient and environmentally friendly. Dmitry Medvedev introduced the planning and construction situation of the stadium. He said that Sochi, taking the opportunity of hosting the Winter Olympics, has built infrastructures such as stadiums, railway stations and highways, bringing a new look to the city. After the Winter Olympics, Sochi had renovated and reused the venues, striving to achieve the sustainable use of relative facilities. The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held in this city in 2018. The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games was very successful and impressive. The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games is also highly anticipated.
Li Keqiang said that Beijing has become the first city in the world that had hosted the Summer Olympic Games and will host the Winter Olympic Games since obtaining the right to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games. Now China is making full preparations for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, and is willing to learn from the successful experience of the Sochi Winter Olympic Games, strengthen exchanges, and strive to run a wonderful Winter Olympic Games, so as to have more people to involve in sports and fitness and share a better life.
A masterpiece by the well-known Russian musician Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was played at the large music fountain of the Olympic Park. As the main torch tower of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games, the high pillar at the center of music fountain was designed based on the Firebird in the Russian fairy tales, symbolizing brightness and happiness. It is similar in spirit to the traditional Chinese culture embodied in a Chinese saying, "As heaven's movement is ever vigorous, so must a gentleman ceaselessly strive forward" and deeply conforms to the connotation of the Olympic motto of "faster, higher and stronger".
Li Keqiang said that China and Russia have greater potentials in cooperation in sports, cultural exchanges as well as other areas. Both countries should stick to Olympic spirit of "faster, higher and stronger", and constantly boost bilateral relations and cooperation, so that friendship between the two sides will go on from generation to generation.
