On April 14, 2021, Assistant Foreign Minister Deng Li and South African Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Candith Mashego-Dlamini held the 11th China-South Africa Strategic Dialogue via video link.
Deng Li said that China-South Africa relations, featured with comprehensive and rapid development, have transcended bilateral scope and acquired global and strategic significance. The two countries maintained close high-level exchanges, increased strategic mutual trust, achieved vigorous practical cooperation and carried out close coordination and cooperation at international occasions and in multilateral mechanisms. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, China and South Africa worked together to fight the pandemic, which deepened friendship, displayed the solidarity between China and South Africa and between China and Africa, and led the global anti-pandemic cooperation. China is willing to work with South Africa to enhance communication and coordination, promote better development of China-South Africa and China-Africa relations, and jointly safeguard the common interests of the two sides and developing countries.
Candith Mashego-Dlamini congratulated on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and said South Africa and China enjoy a solid foundation and huge potential of bilateral relations. She thanks China for its invaluable support and assistance for South Africa and Africa's fight against the pandemic, economic recovery and reconstruction. South Africa is willing to work with China to strengthen cooperation in the fields of infrastructure construction, trade and investment and scientific and technological innovation, jointly uphold multilateralism, push South Africa-China and Africa-China relations to new levels and realize common prosperity and development.
The two sides also exchanged views on the situation in Africa and international and regional hotspot issues.
