On July 9, 2021, Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng said in an interview on the "China Forum" column of guancha.cn, on the issue of COVID-19 origin-tracing, China has always upheld the principle of openness, transparency and cooperation, and it has twice invited the World Health Organization (WHO) experts to China for the study of origins. It is clearly written in the WHO-China joint mission report that "a laboratory origin of the pandemic was considered to be extremely unlikely". However, a certain major country, in disregard of facts, politicizes the serious scientific question, suspects the consensus of scientists with the conspiracy theory fabricated by intelligence officers, and challenges the authoritative report of the WHO with groundless presumption of guilt. The study of origins involves many countries and localities across the world. If the U.S. does care about the truth and transparency, it should accept the international investigation, and make clear the source of the pandemic in the U.S., the causes of the U.S. failure to fight the pandemic, and the problems existing in the American bio labs instead of holding a flashlight to check out on others but not on itself.
