On November 1, Consul General Chen Haiping published an article entitled "China's Governance Demonstrates Unique Advantages and Drives Global Development" in major northern Thai newspapers, including Thai News, Northern Daily Times as well as on the official websites of news agencies, Chiang Mai News, CM108, and radio stations. The article emphasizes that China, upholding the great banner of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, promotes high-quality development and efficient governance, and steadily advances Chinese modernization, which will bring new opportunities to the world. It expresses China's willingness to exchange and share its governance experience and achievements with countries around the world, including Thailand, to promote the alignment of development strategies and pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and to jointly build a community with a shared future for humanity, making greater contributions to the cause of human progress.

In our world today, unilateralism and protectionism are resurfacing, economic globalization is encountering headwinds, and the international order is undergoing growing transformation and turbulence. In the face of a complex environment and formidable challenges, China is guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, adheres to open, green, and innovation-driven development, advances high-quality development and efficient governance, and steadily advances Chinese modernization. China's development achievements have presented new opportunities to the world, while "China's approach to governance" offers wisdom and solutions for other countries to explore their own paths. Here, I would like to share with our Thai friends several distinctive strengths of "China's Governance".
National development is closely linked to the people. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that we must adhere to the people-centered development philosophy, noting that "what matters most to the country is the happy life of the people." By connecting long-term strategic goals with short-term objectives and implementing them in an orderly manner, China has achieved long-term, healthy, and stable economic development. From 2012 to 2024, China's gross domestic product (GDP) grew from 54 trillion yuan to nearly 135 trillion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 6%, nearly double the world's average annual economic growth rate of 3.1%. At the same time, China has ensured that the fruits of development are shared by the people, steadily improving living standards and social safeguards through development. It has established the world's largest education, social security, and healthcare systems, ensuring that economic growth and technological progress benefit all people more broadly and fairly. The people's sense of fulfillment, happiness, and security has become more substantial, better safeguarded, and more sustainable, and their growing needs for a better life are being better met.
Poverty alleviation and rural revitalization are effectively linked. The CPC Central Committee, with General Secretary Xi Jinping at its core, has led the entire nation in implementing the strategy of targeted poverty alleviation, creating a Chinese model of poverty reduction governance and making significant contributions to the global cause of poverty reduction. After eight years of sustained efforts, nearly 100 million rural poor in China have been lifted out of poverty, all impoverished counties have been removed from the poverty list, and overall regional poverty has been resolved. Former World Bank President Jim Yong Kim praised this achievement as "one of the greatest stories in human history". China regards the victory in the fight against poverty and the comprehensive building of a moderately prosperous society as the starting point for a new life and new endeavors, continuously promoting the development of formerly impoverished areas and the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas. Today, the levels of rural construction, governance, and industrial development in China are continuously improving. The growth rate of rural residents' income has surpassed that of urban residents for many consecutive years, profound changes are taking place in both urban and rural landscapes, and the goal of common prosperity is being realized.
Innovation leads new quality productive forces to drive high-quality development. Innovation-driven development is a crucial strategy for China's progress. General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized the need to accelerate the implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy. By focusing on scientific and technological innovation as the "main lever", China has seen a surge of innovations in fields such as new energy, biopharmaceuticals, and artificial intelligence. Energy consumption per unit of GDP has decreased by nearly 11.6 percent over the past four years, while the production and sales of new energy vehicles have maintained their global lead. The scale of trade in goods has achieved an average annual growth rate of 8.0 percent, and over 1 billion mu of high-standard farmland has been developed. Innovation has transformed the way resources are combined, amplified the utility of production factors, and opened up new domains and tracks—creating what others don't have and refining what already exists. It continuously generates and strengthens new quality productive forces, steadily enhances the capacity to withstand external risks, and has ignited a new engine for high-quality development.
Ecological conservation and green development advance profoundly. Under the guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping's Thought on Ecological Civilization, China has thoroughly implemented the scientific concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets." The trend of ecological and environmental degradation has been effectively curbed, with improvements in air quality, enhancements in surface water quality, and increases in forest resources and afforestation areas ranking among the fastest in the world. Green productivity is flourishing, supported by the world's largest renewable energy system, while installed capacities for hydropower, wind power, and solar power consistently rank first globally. China's industrial structure is continuously upgrading, with notable trends in digitalization, smart technology, and green transformation. The late John B. Cobb, Jr., fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, once remarked that China's relentless efforts in advancing ecological civilization have given the world hope, describing China as the hope of the world.
Opening up and global governance advance in concert. General Secretary Xi Jinping has stressed that China will not change its resolve to pursue higher-standard opening up and share development opportunities with the world, as well as its commitment to steer economic globalization toward more openness, inclusiveness, balance, and win-win outcomes for all. China has long been contributing around 30 percent to global economic growth, and has become the major trading partner of more than 150 countries and regions. For years, it has ranked first in the world in total trade of goods and stood among the top globally in both foreign investment utilization and outbound investment. Not long ago, General Secretary Xi Jinping put forth the Global Governance Initiative, advocating the following five core principles: adhere to sovereign equality, abide by international rule of law, practice multilateralism, advocate the people-centered approach, and focus on taking real actions. This Initiative charts the way forward for reforming and improving the global governance system, and is highly significant for safeguarding world peace and development. China will continue to share its development and governance experience with other countries, and join hands with them to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
Over the past 50 years since China and Thailand established diplomatic relations, our two countries have engaged in practical cooperation across the board. Starting from scratch and growing from less to more, such cooperation has continued to create and enhance benefits for our two countries and peoples. Along with the sound and in-depth growth of bilateral relations and China's long-term rapid economic growth, China and Thailand have reaped a rich harvest in Belt and Road cooperation, and our cooperation in such areas as digital economy, green development and technological innovation remains robust. China is ready to share its governance experience and development gains with Thailand and other countries, promote the synergy of development strategies and practical cooperation in various fields, open a new chapter of "Appreciate the Beauty in Each Other", and make greater contributions to the cause of human progress.
