Born inShandongProvinceDecember 1945, Zhao Jinjun graduated fromBeijingForeignStudiesUniversity.From 1973 to 1979, he was Staff member in the Chinese Embassy inBelgium. From 1979 to 1983, he was staff member of the Department of West European Affairs. From 1983 to 1987, he was Third Secretary and then Second Secretary in the Chinese Embassy inFrance. From 1987 to 1993, he served as Deputy Director, First Secretary, Director, and then Counsellor of the Department of West European Affairs. From 1993 to 1997, he was Counsellor and then Minister-Counsellor in the Chinese Embassy inFrance. From 1997 to 1999, he was Deputy Director-General of the Department of West European Affairs. From 1999 to 2002, he was Minister in the Chinese Embassy inFrance. In 2002, he was appointed Assistant Foreign Minister. He is married with a son.
