From June 23 to 25, 2016, the 2016 Third G20 Sherpa Meeting was held in Xiamen. The meeting was attended by over 300 representatives from home and abroad, including Sherpas of G20 members, guest countries and international organizations, and chaired by Vice Foreign Minister and Chinese Coordinator for G20 Affairs Li Baodong.

The current Sherpa Meeting, a key meeting for the preparatory work of the Hangzhou Summit to enter a sprinting phase, is of great significance for securing the development of results and guaranteeing the success of the summit. The meeting briefed relevant arrangements such as the preliminary agenda of the Hangzhou Summit, reached principled consensus on the basic framework and elements of the leaders' communiqué, exchanged in-depth views on the core results of the summit, secured relevant progress and achieved expected goals.

Under the theme of "Blazing a New Path for Development", all parties focused on enhancing the medium and long-term growth potential of world economy and exploring new impetus, and approved in principle the G20 blueprint for innovation-driven growth, the innovation-driven action plan, the new industrial revolution action plan as well as the initiative of development and cooperation in digital economy.

Under the theme of "More Efficient Global Economic and Financial Governance", all parties approved the advanced principles of the G20 in anti-corruption, fugitive repatriation and asset recovery, agreed to establish a research center for anti-corruption, fugitive repatriation and asset recovery in China, and approved in principle the anti-corruption action plan, the entrepreneurship action plan, the energy accessibility action plan, the renewable energy action plan, the energy efficiency leading plan and others for 2017 and 2018.

Under the theme of "Robust International Trade and Investment", all parties expressed their support to strengthening the construction of the G20 trade and investment mechanism, approved the work responsibilities of the trade and investment working group, exchanged in-depth views on G20 global trade growth strategies, guiding principles of global investment and other issues, and agreed to revive the engine role of trade and investment in economy.

Under the theme of "Inclusive and Interconnected Development," all parties focused on the issue of development and the needs of developing countries, approved in principle the action plan for G20's implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the initiative of supporting the industrialization of Africa and the least developed countries.

The meeting also discussed such issues as climate change, public heath, refugees and financing for anti-terrorism.

During the meeting, Sherpas and finance and central bank deputies held a joint meeting, in which they briefed each other on the result progress in respective channels, strengthened "dual-track" communication and coordination between Sherpas and finance and central bank deputies, and exchanged views on the framework of the G20 leaders' communiqué.

The 2016 G20 Summit will be held in Hangzhou from September 4 to 5 under the theme of "Towards an Innovative, Invigorated, Interconnected and Inclusive World Economy". The Sherpa Meeting, one of the "dual tracks" of the preparatory work for the G20 summit, is responsible for coordinating summit results in terms of politics. All consensus reached during this Sherpa Meeting has laid a solid foundation for the political preparation of the Hangzhou Summit. The Fourth Sherpa Meeting will be held in Hangzhou from September 1 to 2.
