On October 21, 2024, Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu attended and addressed the annual meeting of UN development agencies in China held in Beijing via video link. The meeting focused on reviewing the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for China and discussing the formulation of a new Cooperation Framework.

Miao Deyu said that the UN Summit of the Future held last month reaffirmed its commitment to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. As the world's largest developing country, the second largest economy, the second largest contributor to the United Nations and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China will, as always, support the United Nations in playing a role as the central coordinator in global development cooperation.

Miao Deyu pointed out that the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for China is a programmatic document guiding the cooperation of the UN development system in China. He expressed the hope that the new Cooperation Framework will adhere to China's position as a developing country, synergize with China's medium- and long-term development strategies, and continue to play a positive role in China's modernization drive. China is ready to share its development experience with other developing countries, work together to implement Global Development Initiative, synergize with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
