On May 13, 2024, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences of the Foreign Ministry Shen Bo attended the high-level meeting of the "Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations (UN)" in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, and met with representatives from Venezuela, Russia, Cuba, Iran and other countries. The meeting issued a political declaration, reaffirming the adherence to multilateralism, opposition to unilateral coercive measures, and commitment to safeguarding the common interests of the vast developing countries.

Before and after the meeting, Shen Bo went to Algeria and Germany to hold China-Algeria and China-Germany consultations on UN affairs, and had an exchange of views on the current work of the UN and the Security Council, preparations for Summit of the Future and international and regional hotspot issues of common concern.
