On October 19, 2017, Assistant Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou met with Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs and Legal Counsel Miguel de Serpa Soares of the United Nations (UN), who was in China for the meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) on legal affairs. Director-General of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Xu Hong, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ma Xinmin and AIIB General Counsel Gerard Sanders were present. Both sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between China and the legal department of the UN.
