Wang Yi: The United States Cannot Act Arbitrarily, and the Wheels of History Must not Be Reversed
Updated: April 11, 2025 23:00

On April 11, 2025, when meeting with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi in Beijing, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that one important reason for the current volatile and chaotic international situation is that certain major country believes might makes right, pursues supremacy, and pushes unilateral bullying. Recently, the United States has been wantonly imposing tariffs, openly placing its own interests above the common interest of other countries and blatantly disregarding the multilateral trade regime and established rules. The international community cannot stand idly by. The United States cannot act arbitrarily, and the wheels of history must not be reversed. China is an honest and rightful major country, as well as a responsible member of the international community. China stands up to oppose hegemonism, not only to safeguard its own legitimate rights and interests but also to protect the common interests of the international community, and to prevent humanity from returning to the jungle world where the strong prey on the weak.

Wang Yi stressed that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations (U.N.). As a permanent member of the U.N. Security Council, China is ready to take the 80th anniversary of the founding of the U.N. to firmly uphold the international system with the U.N. at its core and the international order underpinned by international law, and to work with other countries to resist all reckless moves in the world.
