Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu Meets with United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher

On April 24, 2025, Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with visiting United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher. They exchanged views on the international humanitarian situation and China's cooperation with the United Nations in the humanitarian field.

Miao Deyu said that China upholds true multilateralism and firmly supports the United Nations in playing a core role in international affairs. China attaches great importance to and actively participates in international humanitarian actions, and supports the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in its work to address various humanitarian crises. China is willing to further deepen cooperation with the United Nations in the humanitarian field.

Tom Fletcher appreciated China's support for the work of the United Nations and its contributions to international humanitarian causes, expressing the expectation to expand cooperation with China and promote the United Nations humanitarian system to play a better role in responding to humanitarian crises.
