On the afternoon of September 10, 2025, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji had a group meeting with parliamentarians from various countries attending the 2025 Legislators Forum for Friendly Exchanges in Beijing.
Zhao Leji stated that President Xi Jinping put forth the Global Governance Initiative at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Tianjin Summit, aiming to promote joint actions among countries to build a more just and equitable global governance system. Legislative bodies have the responsibility to make positive contributions to promoting fair and reasonable global governance and building a community with a shared future for mankind. The NPC of China is ready to work with parliaments of all countries to deepen exchanges and interactions, enhance multilateral coordination and cooperation, and jointly implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative. Zhao Leji also introduced China's efforts in promoting high-standard opening up and advancing whole-process people's democracy.
The participating parliamentarians stated that in the face of the current complex international situation and global challenges, legislative bodies of all countries should strengthen unity, deepen exchanges and cooperation in legislation and other fields, jointly uphold international law, safeguard world peace and stability, and promote sustainable development.
