Ding Xuexiang Attends the 2025 Annual General Meeting of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development and Delivers a Speech

On October 16, 2025, Member of Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Vice Premier of the State Council and Chairperson of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) Ding Xuexiang attended the 2025 CCICED Annual General Meeting in Beijing and delivered a speech.

Ding Xuexiang stated that since the 14th Five-Year Plan, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, China has regarded the promotion of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature as one of the intrinsic requirements of Chinese modernization. China has maintained a strategic focus on ecological advancement, continuously improved ecological and environmental quality, and made significant progress in building a beautiful China. At the same time, China has actively assumed the responsibilities of a major country and shown its commitment, further strengthening its leading role in global environmental governance.

Ding Xuexiang emphasized that China will further accelerate the transition to a model of green development and is ready to strengthen unity and cooperation with all parties to jointly promote global green development and build a clean and beautiful world. First, all parties should enhance confidence, firmly follow the path of green and low-carbon development, and develop green productivity in line with local conditions. Second, all parties should uphold multilateralism, fully and effectively implement the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, and work together to address environmental challenges and the climate crisis. Third, all parties should strengthen exchanges and dialogue, deepen cooperation in biodiversity conservation, plastic pollution control and treatment, and other areas, and ensure the free circulation of high-quality green products. Fourth, all parties should promote a just transition, coordinate such goals as environmental protection, economic development, job creation, and poverty eradication, and enhance the common and long-term well-being of people worldwide. The Chinese government will continue to strongly support the development and growth of CCICED, contributing more wisdom and strength to advancing China's ecological advancement and promoting global sustainable development.

The theme of this year's CCICED annual general meeting is "Advancing the Green Transformation for a Harmonious Coexistence between Humans and Nature". Around 400 people, including Chinese and foreign council members, experts, and partners, attended the meeting.
