At noon on April 14, 2025 local time, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President Xi Jinping arrived in Hanoi by special plane for a state visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam Luong Cuong.
When he arrived at the Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi by special plane, Xi Jinping was warmly greeted by President of Viet Nam Luong Cuong, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPV Central Committee and Standing Member of the Secretariat of the CPV Central Committee Tran Cam Tu, Member of the Secretariat of the CPV Central Committee and Chief of the CPV Central Committee Office Le Hoai Trung, and other Vietnamese party and government leaders and local representatives. Vietnamese young women presented flowers to Xi Jinping. The honor guards stood on either side of the red carpet, saluting with rifles. Local youth, dressed in traditional costumes, played drums and music, singing and dancing with enthusiasm while waving the flags of both parties and countries to warmly welcome Xi Jinping's visit.
Xi Jinping delivered a written statement and, on behalf of the CPC, the Chinese government, and the Chinese people, extended sincere greetings and best wishes to the brotherly CPV, the Vietnamese government and the Vietnamese people.
Xi Jinping noted that this year marks the 95th anniversary of the founding of the CPV, the 80th anniversary of the founding of Viet Nam, and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South. The CPV has united and led the Vietnamese people in steadfast pursuit of the two goals set for the centenary of the party and the country, respectively. Viet Nam's international and regional influence continues to grow, and the country has also made notable progress in advancing its socialist industrialization and modernization drive. China and Viet Nam are socialist neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, and a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance. During the arduous years of striving for state independence and national liberation, the two countries fought side by side and supported each other, forging a profound friendship. In exploring a socialist path suitable to their respective national conditions, the two countries have learned from each other and advanced hand-in-hand, demonstrating to the world the bright prospects of the socialist system. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Viet Nam, and is the China-Viet Nam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. The building of a China-Viet Nam community with a shared future is ushering in new development opportunities. Xi Jinping said he looks forward to taking this visit as an opportunity to have an in-depth exchange of views with Vietnamese leaders and comrades on the overall, strategic, and directional issues concerning the relations between the two parties and countries, as well as on international and regional issues of common interest and concern, and jointly draw up a new blueprint for the building of a China-Viet Nam community with a shared future.
Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee Cai Qi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong, and other members of the entourage arrived on the same plane.
Chinese Ambassador to Viet Nam He Wei also greeted Xi Jinping at the airport.
When Xi Jinping's motorcade drove from the airport to the hotel, flags of both China and Viet Nam fluttered in the wind, and bright red banners reading "Long Live China-Viet Nam Friendship", "Mountains and Rivers Connected, A Common Future Shared", and "So profound Is the Friendship Between Viet Nam and China, Because We Are Both Comrades and Brothers" were prominently displayed. Local residents and representatives from Chinese-funded institutions and overseas Chinese students gathered on both sides of the road, warmly welcoming Xi Jinping's visit.
