On September 14, 2021, Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng met with Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov. Both sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, and international and regional issues of common concern.

Le Yucheng said, recently, President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin had video meetings and phone talks, and jointly attended the Eastern Economic Forum and the BRICS Summit, which mapped out a blueprint and set the tone for the development of bilateral relations, and charted the course for the international community to fight against the pandemic and revitalize the economy. Since major changes took place in Afghanistan, China and Russia have maintained close communication and held highly aligned positions. During the telephone conversation last month, the two heads of state deeply exchanged views on the Afghan issue, and reached new important consensus. China is willing to take coordinated actions with Russia and other countries in the region, build broad consensus, work out plans and explore policies for promoting Afghanistan's peace and reconstruction and maintaining regional peace and tranquility.

Denisov said, under the guidance and with the promotion of the two heads of state, China-Russia relations and cooperation in various fields have maintained the momentum of vigorous development. Both sides have effectively addressed the challenge of COVID-19, and the two peoples have deepened traditional friendship. Russia is very satisfied with the outcomes of bilateral relations. Russian Embassy in China stands ready to work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China to fully implement the consensus of the two heads of state, and maintain timely communication and close coordination on major bilateral and multilateral issues, ensuring the steady and sustained growth of Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era, and delivering more benefits to the two peoples.
