On September 14, 2021, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai. Both sides exchanged views on relations between the two parties and between the countries, and international and regional issues of common concern.

Liu Jinsong expressed, there is a strong bond of "comradeship and brotherhood" between Vietnam and China. Since the beginning of this year, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping has held phone talks with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Nguyen Xuan Phuc respectively, making strategic plans for enhancing solidarity and cooperation of the two countries under new conditions. State Councilor Wang Yi just wrapped up his successful visit to Vietnam. Wang Yi emphasized, both sides should stand at the new historical starting point, embrace the idea of a community with a shared future, carry forward the traditional friendship, stay true to shared ideals and beliefs, and jointly safeguard the socialist system and develop the socialist cause.

Liu Jinsong said, the special China-Vietnam friendship was forged and nurtured by the older generation of revolutionaries of our two parties and countries. Chairman Ho Chi Minh once studied and experienced revolutionary struggles in many places of China for a long time. I once visited his former residence in Liunan District of Liuzhou in Guangxi, and the site of the Eighth Route Army Office in Chongqing. I was impressed by our older generations of leaders who shared weal and woe and forged great friendship in those dark years. Both the Chinese and the Vietnamese believe "matching commitments with actions". Under new circumstances, we should draw wisdom and strength from friendly exchanges between the two parties, accelerate the win-win cooperation projects, and maintain international fairness and justice and common strategic interests, promoting the long-term sound and steady development of China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership.

Pham Sao Mai said, this year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. In fact, the past century has also witnessed friendly exchanges between the two parties. This epoch-making event deserves to be commemorated and carried forward. Both sides stood shoulder to shoulder and assisted each other in the historical course such as the founding of parties, the fight for national independence and liberation, and the building of the cause of socialism, forging the profound bond of comradeship and brotherhood. After COVID-19 broke out, Chinese comrades have extended a helping hand to Vietnam for many times, and provided medical supplies and vaccines, for which Vietnam is deeply grateful. Vietnam highly values its ties with China, and it stands ready to maintain high-level strategic communication with China, enhance political trust, and expand practical cooperation in various fields, elevating China-Vietnam relations to a higher level.
