On August 21, 2025 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar jointly met the press after the Sixth Round of China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue in Islamabad.
Wang Yi said that he and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar held the Sixth Round of China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue in a cordial and brotherly atmosphere, during which both sides reached common understandings on almost all issues through comprehensive and in-depth strategic communication. Both sides agreed that the China-Pakistan ironclad friendship has stood the test of time and grown even stronger, and the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership is unbreakable. China-Pakistan strategic cooperation bears great significance for the common development of the two countries and regional peace and stability. The building of a China-Pakistan community with a shared future is at the forefront of China's building a community with a shared future with neighboring countries.
Wang Yi pointed out that China and Pakistan will stay committed to the "four always" principles.
The two sides will always maintain high-degree mutual trust and mutual support. Both sides agreed to take the important common understandings reached between the leaders of the two countries as a strategic guide, continuously consolidate and deepen strategic mutual trust, and firmly support each other in safeguarding core interests. China warmly welcomes Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's upcoming visit to China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Tianjin Summit and the commemorative activities for the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
The two sides will always focus on development and win-win cooperation. Both sides agreed that the current priority of China-Pakistan cooperation is to jointly build the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) with high quality and create an upgraded Version 2.0 of the CPEC. Building on previous achievements, the two sides will strive to build a growth corridor, a livelihood-enhancing corridor, an innovation corridor, a green corridor and an open corridor, ensuring better alignment with Pakistan's development plans along the five corridors. The two sides will make solid efforts to deepen cooperation in the three key areas of industry, agriculture and mining, effectively improve the well-being of the Pakistani people, foster Pakistan's capacity for independent development, and enhance the resilience of Pakistan's economy. Both sides will continue to jointly support the construction and operation of the Gwadar Port, advance the Karakoram Highway project in an orderly manner, and welcome third-party participation in the upgrade and renovation of the railway. The two sides will also work together to make thorough preparations for the 75th anniversary of the establishment of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations in 2026. China feels for Pakistan over the recent heavy rainfall disasters, and will immediately provide emergency humanitarian assistance to Pakistan.
The two sides will always safeguard security and improve people's livelihoods. China appreciates Pakistan's unremitting efforts and huge sacrifices in combating terrorism, and believes that Pakistan's counter-terrorism endeavors will ultimately prevail. Pakistan will take concrete measures to ensure the security and safety of Chinese personnel, projects and institutions in the country, while working with China to further deepen counter-terrorism and security cooperation and strengthen coordination on regional counter-terrorism affairs. Both sides will work together to implement more "small yet beautiful" livelihood projects in Pakistan, bringing more direct and effective benefits to the Pakistani people. The two sides will also vigorously promote exchanges and cooperation in areas such as education, youth and culture, so as to consolidate the public support and social foundation for China-Pakistan friendship.
The two sides will always strengthen coordination and meet challenges together. At a time when the regional landscape in South Asia is closely linked with global changes, the two sides agreed to enhance coordination and cooperation on regional affairs, uphold the resolution of differences through dialogue and consultation, carry out cooperation guided by the Asian values of peace, cooperation, openness and inclusiveness, and jointly build a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful and amicable home. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. The two sides will firmly safeguard the outcomes of the victory of World War II, practice true multilateralism, and oppose all forms of unilateral and bullying acts. The two sides will take the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative as important platforms and driving forces, vigorously enhance solidarity and cooperation among the Global South, work together to promote an equal and orderly multipolar world and universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, and make unremitting efforts to the cause of building a community with a shared future for mankind.
