On September 13, 2025 local time, Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar met with Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Ljubljana.
Nataša Pirc Musar asked Wang Yi to convey her sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping and highly appreciated China's achievements in development, especially in green transition. Nataša Pirc Musar said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Slovenia and China over 30 years ago, the cooperative partnership between the two countries has achieved significant results. Slovenia highly commends China, as a responsible major country, for upholding multilateralism and setting an example for the international community. Slovenia's diplomacy is committed to seeking partners rather than creating confrontation. Slovenia is willing to closely cooperate with China, firmly uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core, firmly safeguard openness, cooperation and free trade, and jointly address global challenges such as climate change.
Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings. He said that Slovenia practices "small country, big diplomacy" with a global vision, views China's development and rejuvenation objectively and amicably, and regards China as a partner rather than a rival, which serves the interests of all parties, including Slovenia. China-Slovenia relations transcend differences in social systems and serve as a model of mutual respect and win-win cooperation between countries of different national conditions and sizes. The monument set up in Ljubljana last year has become the latest symbol of friendship between the two countries.
Wang Yi said that in the face of a world fraught with changes and turbulence, President Xi Jinping has proposed the Global Governance Initiative, which aims to reform and improve the global governance system. The five core concepts contained in the initiative are in line with the purposes of the U.N. Charter and meet the common expectations of the international community. China will continue to stand by the majority of countries, oppose the world's return to the "law of the jungle", and take actions to defend international fairness and justice. China is willing to enhance multilateral collaboration with Slovenia, uphold the basic norms governing international relations, promote the political settlement of hotspot issues, and build a more just and equitable global governance system. Wang Yi also expressed the hope that Slovenia will continue to play an active role in promoting China-EU relations and cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European countries.
During his visit, Wang Yi also met with Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob, and held talks with Slovenian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon and jointly met the press.
