On February 5, 2026, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Special Envoy of the Party and Government of Cuba, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla in Beijing.
Wang Yi asked Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla to convey President Xi Jinping's warm greetings to Comrade Raúl Castro Ruz and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez. Wang Yi stated that this year marks the 100th anniversary of Fidel Castro's birth. For a long time, Cuba has adhered to the tradition of independence, firmly safeguarding state sovereignty and national dignity, and striving to explore a socialist path suited to its own national conditions. With a spirit of never yielding to coercive power and not fearing hardships, Cuba has earned widespread respect from the international community.

Wang Yi stated that in the face of the ever-changing international landscape, China and Cuba have consistently treated each other with sincerity and mutual trust, and stood together through both challenges and hardships. Last year, the two countries celebrated the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, setting a clear direction for building a China-Cuba community with a shared future. Currently, the situation in Latin America is undergoing complex and profound changes. China firmly supports Cuba in safeguarding its national sovereignty and security, opposes unwarranted interference by external forces, and rejects attempts to deprive the Cuban people of their right to survival and development. Wang Yi said that upholding fairness and justice is a tradition of China's diplomacy. China is ready to work with Cuba to implement the common understandings reached by the two heads of state, continue providing support and assistance within its capacity, and strengthen and develop the friendly relations between China and Cuba. Together with like-minded countries, China will make new efforts to enhance the unity of the Global South and safeguard peace in the region and the world.
Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla asked Wang Yi to convey the sincere greetings of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez to President Xi Jinping. He stated that Cuba and China are brothers and comrades, expressing gratitude for China's steadfast support for the Cuban people in opposing external blockades and sanctions, as well as for providing valuable assistance in Cuba's economic and social development. Cuba is honored to be the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish diplomatic relations with China and the first to build a bilateral community with a shared future with China. The relations between the two Parties and two countries have become a model of solidarity and cooperation between countries of all sizes, between socialist countries, and between China and Latin American nations. Cuba supports the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the four global initiatives, adheres to the one-China principle, and opposes "Taiwan independence". Cuba is willing to work with China to implement the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, strengthen cooperation in various fields, and promote the comprehensive and in-depth development of Cuba-China relations.
