On February 13, 2026 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
Wang Yi said that the world today is becoming increasingly unstable, with the existing international order suffering severe setbacks and multilateralism facing serious challenges. At this critical juncture, it is of great significance beyond bilateral relations for China and Germany to strengthen strategic communication, jointly oppose unilateralism, and resist bloc confrontation. Both sides should unequivocally uphold the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, replace the "law of the jungle" with global governance, and work together to serve as a stabilizing force in a turbulent world.
Wang Yi stated that China is ready to work with Germany to prepare for the next stage of high-level exchanges, add new dimensions to the China-Germany all-round strategic partnership, achieve new progress in cooperation across various fields, and make new contributions to the sound development of China-EU relations. Economic and trade cooperation serves as the anchor of China-Germany relations. China remains committed to high-standard opening up, and is ready to foster a market-oriented, law-based and world-class business environment for German and other foreign enterprises, so as to share in the opportunities of China's development.
Johann Wadephul stated that the steady development of Germany-China relations can provide much-needed stability for a world that is marked by instability and turbulence. Germany highly values China, welcomes China's further opening up, and holds high expectations for the Chinese market. Germany-China cooperation enjoys enormous potential. Germany opposes economic decoupling and trade protectionism, and welcomes fair competition. The German side adheres to the one-China policy, and looks forward to close high-level exchanges with the Chinese side to comprehensively elevate Germany-China relations.
The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis and other international and regional issues.
