On February 14, 2026 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
Wang Yi noted that Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to China achieved fruitful results, fully demonstrating that the new Canadian government has adopted a new approach toward China. This is in line with the shared interests of both countries and represents the right choice. China stands ready to work with Canada to follow through on the important consensus reached by the two countries' leaders, overcome disruptions, resume exchanges and cooperation across various fields, and advance the sound, steady, and sustainable development of China-Canada relations.
Anand said that Prime Minister Carney's visit to China was a great success and opened a new chapter in Canada-China relations. She expressed appreciation for China's visa-free policy for Canadian citizens, and voiced the hope that both sides will enhance dialogue and cooperation, strengthen people-to-people exchanges, and promote the steady and positive development of bilateral relations.
