On the evening of September 30, the reception marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) was held at the Great Hall of the People. General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping attended the reception and delivered important remarks. He emphasized that the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is a great cause that has no precedent to follow. Expectations and challenges will inspire the Chinese people to press on with a sense of urgency and perseverance. He called on the people to rally even more closely around the Party Central Committee, forge ahead with enterprise and resolve, and write an even more splendid chapter in realizing Chinese modernization.
Li Qiang presided over the reception, with Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, Li Xi, and Han Zheng in attendance. Approximately 800 guests from home and abroad gathered together to celebrate the 76th birthday of the PRC.
The banquet hall of the Great Hall of the People was adorned with dazzling lights and permeated with a cheerful festive atmosphere. Hung above the rostrum was the solemn national emblem, with large digits "1949-2025" prominently displayed against the bright red flags.
At about 17:30, accompanied by the cheerful Tune of Welcome, Xi Jinping and other Party and state leaders walked into the banquet hall and waved to the attendees. The hall burst into warm applause.
The reception began. All stood up and sang the national anthem of the PRC. The magnificent March of the Volunteers echoed in the hall.
Xi Jinping delivered important remarks. At the outset, on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, he extended festive greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, to members of the Chinese People's Liberation Army and Armed Police, and to all other political parties and public figures without party affiliation. He extended sincere greetings to compatriots in the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions and Taiwan and those residing abroad. He expressed heartfelt appreciation to all countries and foreign friends who have long shown understanding for and supported China in its development endeavors.
Xi Jinping pointed out that over the past 76 years since the founding of New China, under the leadership of the Party, the Chinese people have, through self-reliance and unrelenting efforts, made remarkable achievements that will be etched in history as landmarks. Xi Jinping said that looking back on history, the Chinese nation has traversed a great journey from facing existential crisis to great rejuvenation. It is a journey full of challenges and hardships, but it is also a forward march with confidence that leads China from one victory to another. Earlier this month, China solemnly commemorated the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. It has greatly boosted the national morale, fueled the passion for the country, and inspired the Chinese people to forge ahead. Xi Jinping stressed the need to keep drawing inspirations from the past, develop the country better, and ensure even greater success in the cause pioneered by the older generations of leaders and the fallen revolutionary heroes.
Xi Jinping emphasized that since the beginning of this year, in the face of complex developments, China has deepened reform across the board, taken solid steps to pursue high-quality development, endeavored to ensure and improve people's well-being, and further exercised full and rigorous self-governance of the Party. New achievements have been made in all the endeavors of the Party and the country. Next month, the Party will convene the Fourth Plenary Session of its 20th Central Committee to consider and adopt the recommendations for formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan. Xi Jinping stressed the need to keep in mind the Party's central task on the new journey of the new era, ensure the adoption and implementation of the objectives, tasks, and strategic initiatives for the 15th Five-Year Plan, and achieve decisive progress in basically realizing socialist modernization.
Xi Jinping pointed out that on the new journey, it is essential to resolutely implement the policy of One Country, Two Systems, and support Hong Kong and Macao in better integrating themselves into the country's overall development, delivering even better economic performance and improving people's well-being. Xi Jinping stressed the need to deepen cross-Strait exchanges and cooperation, resolutely oppose separatist activities for "Taiwan independence" and external interference, and resolutely safeguard China's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Xi Jinping emphasized that as changes in the world not seen in a century accelerate, China should vigorously champion the common values of humanity, and practice true multilateralism. China will continue to implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative and, together with all other countries, strive to build a community with a shared future for humanity.
