On December 4, 2019, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong met at the Foreign Ministry with visiting Karim Darwish, Chairman of the Committee of Foreign Affairs of the Egyptian Parliament.

Chen Xiaodong expressed, China and Egypt enjoy a profound traditional friendship, and always understand and support each other. In recent years, under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, bilateral relations have seen historic development. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Egyptian side to well implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, reinforce practical cooperation and exchanges in various areas, and push China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership for greater development.

Karim Darwish said, the Egyptian side attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and resolutely supports China's position in issues related to Xinjiang, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The Egyptian side stands ready to work with the Chinese side to deepen cooperation in various fields and enhance experience exchanges in counter-terrorism and de-radicalization. The Committee of Foreign Affairs of the Egyptian Parliament will make greater contributions in this regard.
