On January 3, 2020, Vice Foreign Minister Luo Zhaohui met with newly-appointed Malaysian Ambassador to China Raja Dato' Nushirwan Zainal Abidin.

Luo Zhaohui welcomed Raja Dato' Nushirwan Zainal Abidin on his assumption of the new post in China, saying that China-Malaysia relations have made remarkable progress on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries last year. The Chinese side is willing to, together with the Malaysian side, make continuous efforts to deepen the cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, and take the China-Malaysia Cultural Tourism Year this year as an opportunity to further intensify bilateral relations, especially people-to-people and cultural cooperation, so as to ensure that China-Malaysia friendship is deeply rooted in the hearts of the two peoples.

Raja Dato' Nushirwan Zainal Abidin spoke highly of China's development achievements and contributions to world peace and stability, expressing that the Malaysian side is willing to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to consolidate traditional friendship, deepen practical cooperation and push bilateral relations for even greater development.
