On July 23, 2020, Vice Foreign Minister Luo Zhaohui held a video conference with Deputy Foreign Minister Kim Gunn of the Republic of Korea (ROK).
Speaking highly of the development of China-ROK relations and cooperation in combating COVID-19, the two sides agreed that bilateral relations have been enjoying stable development under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state and with the joint efforts of both sides. In the face of the challenge of COVID-19, the two sides have actively helped each other, maintained close cooperation, taken the lead in the joint prevention and control of the COVID-19 and established a "fast lane", which have served the overall situation of the two countries in fighting the virus and set an example for the international community.
The two sides exchanged in-depth views on further developing China-ROK relations. The two sides agreed to strengthen communication between both countries at all levels and deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields. Both sides agreed to continue to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation in COVID-19 response, give better play to the role of the "fast lane" between China and the ROK to bring more benefits to more groups, further facilitate personnel exchanges under the premise of full implementation of nucleic acid testing, and jointly discuss establishing a regional network of "fast lanes". The two sides agreed to continue to strengthen communication and cooperation within such multilateral frameworks as China-Japan-ROK cooperation and the 10+3 cooperation so as to make positive contributions to peace, stability and prosperity of the region and the world at large.
Both sides also exchanged views regarding the Korean Peninsula issue and China-United States relations.
