On November 23, 2020, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Wu Jianghao held a virtual Senior Officials Meeting of China-Singapore Joint Committee of Bilateral Cooperation with Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore Gabriel Lim.

Wu Jianghao said, this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore. Despite the disruptions of COVID-19, the leaders of the two countries have maintained close communication through "cloud diplomacy". Both sides effectively carried out joint prevention and control, took the lead in opening a "fast track" for flow of the people, and focused on keeping the industrial and supply chains stable and unimpeded, making the anti-pandemic cooperation a new highlight in the relations between the two countries. The fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee held last month has made a comprehensive plan for the development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period and proposed a vision for 2035. Singapore's new administration has also set a series of new development goals. In this context, this year's Meeting of China-Singapore Joint Committee of Bilateral Cooperation is of particular significance. Both sides should make good preparations to ensure the meeting is a success.

Gabriel Lim said, the meeting of Joint Committee of Bilateral Cooperation is the highest-level mechanism for leading practical cooperation between the two countries and a key platform for advancing bilateral relations. Singapore is willing to work closely with China to make the meeting of the year fruitful, so as to promote greater development of Singapore-China relations and spur the economic recovery of the two countries and the region.
