Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang Meets with Brazilian Ambassador to China Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita

On November 24, 2020, Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang met with Brazilian Ambassador to China Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita. Both sides exchanged views on China-Brazil relations and other issues of common concern.

Zheng Zeguang said both China and Brazil are major emerging markets and developing countries which share broad and important common interests. Both sides need to implement the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Jair Bolsonaro, jointly confront the serious challenges brought by the complicated international environment, strengthen exchanges at all levels, deepen cooperation in the fields of fighting against the pandemic, economy and trade, and science and technology, enhance multilateral collaboration, and push forward the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Brazil.

Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita said since the COVID-19 outbreak, Brazil and China have kept close communication at all levels, and witnessed an increase of pragmatic cooperation against the trend. The Brazilian government attaches great importance to the bilateral relations and is willing work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, expand all-round exchanges and cooperation, enhance communication and collaboration on international affairs, and strive for new progress in the Brazil-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
