Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang Holds Consultations on Foreign Policies with Deputy Secretary-General of the European External Action Service Enrique Mora Benavente

On December 1, 2020, Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang held the 14th Foreign Policy Planning Dialogue with Deputy Secretary-General of the European External Action Service Enrique Mora Benavente via video link.

Zheng Zeguang said, the China-EU relations feature sound development now. China is willing to work with the EU to uphold the spirit of mutual respect and win-win cooperation, deepen cooperation in various fields such as pandemic prevention and control, economy and trade, promote investment negotiations and give full play to the role of the high-level dialogue mechanisms on environment and climate as well as digitalization under the guidance of the important consensus reached by the leaders of both sides. The two sides should strengthen communication and coordination in international affairs, jointly support and practice multilateralism, help the global economic recovery, improve global governance, and promote China-EU relations to a higher level in the post-pandemic era.

Mora spoke positively of the development of EU-China relations and their cooperation in anti-pandemic and other fields. Mora said, the EU attaches great importance to the development of relations with China, welcomes China's moves to further expand its opening-up, and supports the two sides in accelerating investment negotiations and further strengthening practical cooperation in economy and trade. He hopes that the two sides could strengthen dialogue and communication, jointly uphold multilateralism, work together to address global challenges such as climate change, and deliver more solid outcomes.

Both sides exchanged views on important international and regional issues of common concern.
