On February 23, 2021, Vice Foreign Minister Luo Zhaohui met with Bangladeshi Ambassador to China Mahbub Uz Zaman at the latter's request.
Luo Zhaohui said that China and Bangladesh are friendly neighbors with a long history of contacts. Since last year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the two countries have maintained high-level exchanges, helped each other to fight against the pandemic, and promoted cooperation on major projects, pushing forward a steady progress of China-Bangladesh relations.
Luo Zhaohui said that China attaches great importance to developing its relations with Bangladesh, and is ready to work with the Bangladeshi side to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, cement political mutual trust and enhance Belt and Road cooperation. China is willing to attend the activities celebrating the 100th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the 50th anniversary of the nation's independence. China will continue to assist Bangladesh in fighting against the pandemic within its capacity and is ready to enhance subregional and non-traditional security cooperation with Bangladesh, in order to safeguard stability and development of the region.
Mahbub Uz Zaman thanked China for its long-term support and assistance for Bangladesh's economic and social development. He said that Bangladesh is willing to enhance high-level exchanges with China, accelerate the construction of major Belt and Road projects, and enhance communication and coordination on international and regional affairs, bringing Bangladesh-China relations to a new level.
Both sides also exchanged in-depth views on other issues of common concern.
