On April 26, 2021, Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng met and exchanged views on China-Brazil relations, etc. with the Brazilian Ambassador to China Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita.

Xie Feng said, China and Brazil are the largest developing countries in the eastern and western hemispheres respectively, and the two countries are comprehensive strategic partners with extensive common interests and enormous potential for cooperation. Over recent years, President Xi Jinping and President Jair Bolsonaro have successfully exchanged visits and maintained communication through phone calls and letters to define the right direction for the development of China-Brazil relations. The two sides have achieved fruitful results in cooperation in such fields as anti-pandemic, economy and trade. China is willing to work with Brazil to strengthen all-round exchanges, deepen pragmatic cooperation, jointly protect the interests of developing countries, uphold multilateralism and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state. The top priority is to actively build a global community of health for all so as to unite as one and defeat the COVID-19.

Estivallet said, under the leadership of the two heads of state, Brazil-China relations have continued to steady forward in recent years, with fruitful results in cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, science and technology, and increasingly close people-to-people exchanges, boasting a bright future for bilateral cooperation. Brazil attaches great importance to the development of relations with China, appreciates China's strong support for its pandemic battle, and is willing to further strengthen political dialogue, expand pragmatic cooperation in various fields and step up communication and coordination in international and regional affairs with China, and thus push its comprehensive strategic partnership with China continuously forward.
