On May 14, 2021, Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng pointed out in his speech at the exchange meeting themed with "Xinjiang is a wonderful land" when accompanying Latin American and Caribbean diplomatic corps to Xinjiang, anti-China forces have meticulously designed a "whole industry chain" from fabricating lies to launching attacks in order to disrupt Xinjiang, provoke religious and ethnic conflicts, undermine China's stability and contain its development. Firstly, "academic institutions" and "experts and scholars" make up and put together false information about Xinjiang, smear China's Xinjiang-related policy without any bottom line, and even use "fake people", "dead people" and foreign "actors" to tell their stories, so as to fabricate so-called academic achievements and provide "ammunition" to attack China. Then some Western media outlets rush to hype them up and mislead the international public opinion. This is followed by the anti-China politicians' launch of attack on China and presumption of guilt against the country. Finally, so-called sanctions are imposed on Xinjiang-related people and companies.
Xie Feng said, this plot is not new, and it has been seen in the past, e.g. the trigger of the "Arab Spring" in the excuse of "human rights over national sovereignty", the invasion of Iraq by using a bag of washing powder as evidence that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction, and the launch of the war in Syria with a few posed video clips and photos, creating countless conflicts, hunger and refugees. Lies and rumors cannot conceal the prosperity and progress of Xinjiang, while hegemony and overbearing cannot stop international justice. The international community should not forget such a tragedy, let alone allow such a tragedy to repeat itself!
In mid-May, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized envoys of Latin American and Caribbean countries to China to Xinjiang so that they had the chance to have direct contacts with the people of all nationalities in Xinjiang and experience the region's stable development progress on the spot. 23 envoys and senior diplomats from 19 countries were on the tour.
