On December 15, 2021, Coordinator of China's BRICS Affairs and Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu attended the Video Meeting of BRICS Coordinators.

Ma Zhaoxu said, in the face of a pandemic and major changes both unseen in a century, the global governance system and international landscape are going through accelerated adjustments, the global economic recovery is still on shaky ground, and the development gap between the North and the South is widening. As emerging markets and major developing countries, BRICS countries shoulder the historical mission of improving people's livelihood at home and promoting world peace and development. China will take over the BRICS chairmanship next year, and looks forward to working with BRICS partners to build a more comprehensive, pragmatic and inclusive, closer, and higher-quality partnership, so as to push global development towards a stronger, greener and more balanced new era.

The meeting took stock of the results of BRICS cooperation in various fields this year and held a handover ceremony of the chairmanship.
