On July 26, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li met with outgoing Portuguese Ambassador to China José Augusto Duarte.

Deng Li spoke highly of José Augusto Duarte's efforts to promote China-Portugal exchanges and cooperation during his tenure as Ambassador to China. José Augusto Duarte thanked the Chinese side for its support and convenience during his tenure in China and expressed his willingness to continue to care for and promote the development of Portugal-China and EU-China relations.
