Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li Holds Political Consultation with Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway Tore Hattrem

On March 28, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li held a China-Norway Political Consultation at Vice Foreign Ministerial Level with Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway Tore Hattrem in Beijing.

Deng Li said that despite the impact of the pandemic and complex changes in the international situation, China-Norway relations have maintained sound development. The successful convening of China’s “Two Sessions” once again shows that China’s development has a high degree of certainty and stability, which will bring more opportunities to countries around the world, including Norway. China stands ready to carry out exchanges with Norway at all levels to consolidate political mutual trust, push forward mutually beneficial cooperation in free trade, maritime and other fields for more results, and make preparations for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year.

Hattrem said, Norway attaches great importance to its relationship with China and always firmly pursues the one-China policy. Norway is ready to speed up the resumption of exchanges with China at all levels and promote practical cooperation in the fields of climate change and environmental protection, green transition, ocean and maritime affairs, scientific and technological innovation, and social welfare as well as multilateral area.

The two sides also exchanged views on China-Europe relations, the Ukraine crisis, and other regional and international hotspot issues.
