On March 27, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng met at request with Chief Executive Officer of the Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited (BHP) of Australia Mike Henry. The two sides exchanged views on China-Australia relations, and issues of mutual interest and concern.

Vice Foreign Minister Xie Feng introduced China's "two sessions", expounded on China's principled position on China-Australia relations, and expressed his hope that the BHP will make more contributions to improving China-Australia relations, tap into the potential for cooperation between China and Australia in such emerging fields as climate response and new energy, and carry out more projects of mutually beneficial cooperation.
