On May 31, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li met with Secretary for Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Paul Lam. The two sides exchanged views on such topics as implementing the principle of “one country, two systems” as well as the basic law, Hong Kong-related diplomatic work, and supporting Hong Kong SAR in building itself into a leading center for international legal and dispute resolution services in the Asia-Pacific region.
