On June 6, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu held China-New Zealand foreign policy consultations with New Zealand’s Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Trade Chris Seed in Beijing.
Ma Zhaoxu said that China views New Zealand as an important cooperative partner on the Chinese path to modernization. China stands ready to work with New Zealand to enhance mutual trust, strengthen cooperation, properly handle differences, and continuously elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to new heights.
Seed said that New Zealand regards its relationship with China as a priority in its diplomacy. New Zealand is ready to work with China to strengthen high-level exchanges and dialogues in various fields, expand cooperation in such areas as economy, trade, education, tourism, and climate response, and continuously enrich bilateral relations.
The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on their respective domestic situations, foreign policies, and international and regional issues of mutual interest and concern.
