On October 24, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong attended the closing ceremony of the International Symposium to Commemorate the 10th Anniversary of China's Principle of Amity, Sincerity, Mutual Benefit and Inclusiveness in Neighborhood Diplomacy, and delivered a speech.

Sun Weidong said that on today's morning, President Xi Jinping sent an important congratulatory message to the Symposium, which summarized China's fruitful outcomes in actively acting upon the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, expounded the new dimension and new development of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, and adopted a new vision for common development between China and its neighboring countries in the future, providing an important guidance and setting the direction for the development of bilateral relations in the new era. Comrade Wang Yi read President Xi Jinping's congratulatory message and made important remarks. He proposed "four shoulds" on upholding the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, and jointly building an Asian home, and advocated that all parties join hands to become an exemplar of Belt and Road cooperation, a pacesetter for implementing the Global Development Initiative, a pioneer in implementing the Global Security Initiative, and a front-runner in implementing the Global Civilization Initiative.

Sun Weidong pointed out that over the past 10 years since the inception of the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics for the new era has been advanced across the board, Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy has guided neighborhood diplomacy in forging ahead, and practices of neighborhood diplomacy have yielded fruitful outcomes. On October 24, China officially released the Outlook on China's Foreign Policy on Its Neighborhood in the New Era. China will adhere to acting upon the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, work for more outcomes in Belt and Road cooperation and cooperation in various fields, and join hands with neighboring countries in building an Asian community with a shared future, so as to inject strong impetus into world peace and development and jointly open up a bright future.

The Symposium was co-hosted by the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and organized by the China Institute of International Studies. More than 200 people, including political figures of neighboring countries, responsible officials of some international and regional organizations, diplomatic envoys to China, experts and scholars attended the Symposium.
