Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong Meets with Bangladeshi Ambassador to China Md. Jashim Uddin

On August 25, 2024, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong met with outgoing Bangladeshi Ambassador to China Md. Jashim Uddin.

Sun Weidong spoke highly of Uddin's contributions to promoting the development of China-Bangladesh relations during his tenure as Ambassador to China, stating that China and Bangladesh are traditionally friendly neighbors and comprehensive strategic partners. China remains committed to developing relations with Bangladesh based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, respecting Bangladesh's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the development path independently chosen by the Bangladeshi people, and standing by the policy of good neighborliness and friendship with all people of Bangladesh. China welcomes the establishment and full operation of the interim government of Bangladesh, wishes Bangladesh political stability and economic development, and is ready to work with Bangladesh to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, pursue high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and promote greater development of China-Bangladesh relations.

Uddin thanked the Chinese side for its support and assistance in his performing duties, saying that Bangladesh attaches great importance to the development of its relations with China, firmly pursues a friendly policy towards China, and appreciates China's long-term support for Bangladesh's economic and social development. Bangladesh will adhere to independence and actively explore a development path that suits its national conditions, and is ready to deepen friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation with China in various fields and take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year as an opportunity to push bilateral relations forward continuously.
