From February 27 to 28, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong visited Malaysia, during which he co-chaired the fifth China-Malaysia strategic consultation with Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Dato' Sri Amran Mohamed Zin, and met with Director-General of the Malaysian National Security Council Raja Dato' Nushirwan Zainal Abidin. Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing attended the relevant events.
Sun Weidong said, China and Malaysia are good neighbors, good partners and good friends. Last year marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and President Xi Jinping held meetings with King of Malaysia His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who were on a visit to China, and reached important common understandings on advancing the building of a China-Malaysia community with a shared future. China is ready to work with Malaysia to maintain close high-level exchanges, strengthen political and security cooperation, deepen the synergy of development strategies, expand people-to-people exchanges and cooperation, and promote the development of a China-Malaysia community with a shared future to a higher level. China supports Malaysia's role as the rotating chair of ASEAN and the country coordinator for ASEAN-China relations, and stands ready to work with Malaysia to advance regional economic integration and jointly maintain the right direction of East Asia cooperation.
The Malaysian side noted that Malaysia attaches great importance to developing relations with China. Under the guidance of the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, Malaysia is ready to work with China to strengthen strategic communication, deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields and continuously push for new progress in the building of a China-Malaysia community with a shared future. Malaysia is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China in international and regional affairs and make greater contributions to regional and world peace, stability, development and prosperity.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, as well as the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. The two sides stressed the need to uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law, and advocate an equal and orderly multi-polar world and a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization.
