On September 11, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with a cross-party delegation of legislators led by Vice President of the National Congress of Honduras Rasel Tomé.
Miao Deyu welcomed Rasel Tomé and his delegation to China, and elaborated on the profound connotation and global significance of Chinese modernization in light of China's achievements in poverty alleviation, green development, scientific and technological innovation, and other fields. Miao stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Honduras more than two years ago, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Honduras relations have made positive progress. The establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Honduras serves the greater good, represents an inevitable trend, meets the aspirations of the people, and benefits the two countries and their people. The friendly cooperation between China and Honduras, as well as between China and other Central American countries, is a form of South-South cooperation featuring mutual support, mutual assistance, and win-win results. It never targets any third party, nor should it be subject to interference by any third party. China attaches great importance to its relations with Honduras, and is ready to continue strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, provide support within its capacity for the economic and social development of Honduras, and elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
Rasel Tomé and others said that the Communist Party of China has led the Chinese people to make great development achievements, which has also brought valuable cooperation opportunities for the Global South. The Honduran side expressed appreciation for China's strong support and assistance for its development, and held that establishing diplomatic relations with China is a correct decision with historic significance. Honduras will continue to abide by the one-China principle, and work with China to deepen cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, healthcare, agriculture, energy, and education, while drawing on China's experience in poverty reduction and development.
The cross-party delegation of legislators is composed of more than 20 members and alternate members from both ruling and opposition parties of the Honduran National Congress. The visit to China is to participate in a seminar on the study of Chinese modernization.
