Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong Meets with Media Representatives from Neighboring Asian Countries

On October 20, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong met with media representatives, who were in China to attend a short-term training workshop for media representatives from neighboring Asian countries, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Sun welcomed media representatives to visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, introduced China's development achievements and philosophy, and stated that the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China begins on Monday in Beijing, focusing on reviewing proposals for the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) for national economic and social development. He noted that China's development in the next five years will unleash greater momentum and provide more opportunities for neighboring countries.

Sun introduced the guiding principles of the Central Conference on Work Related to Neighboring Countries, emphasizing that China will ensure the stability and continuity of its neighborhood diplomacy. He expressed the hope that media representatives will enhance their understanding of China, and act as objective and faithful reporters, promoters of friendly exchanges, and sowers of mutual understanding between peoples.

Media representatives said that China's media development, scientific and technological innovation, and governance experience are admirable. They expressed willingness to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples.

This training workshop is hosted by the School of Journalism and Communication at Renmin University of China. Before the meeting, media representatives attended a regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as observers and had a brief exchange with the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson.
