
On June 4, 2026, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Director-General of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa Zane Dangor, who is on a visit to China.
Miao Deyu stated that the international landscape is undergoing profound changes and severe turbulence. As fellow Global South nations, China and South Africa share broad common interests in promoting peace and development, as well as safeguarding fairness and justice. Both sides should support each other, work hand in hand, and make active contributions to advancing the reform of global governance. The Chinese side firmly supports South Africa in playing its unique and vital role in international affairs. China stands ready to further strengthen high-level exchanges with South Africa, consolidate political mutual trust, seize the opportunities presented by zero-tariff policies, and continuously achieve new progress in building a high-level China-South Africa community with a shared future.
Zane Dangor stated that South Africa and China have consistently supported each other on issues involving their respective core interests. The friendship between the two countries enjoys a solid public support base, with broad prospects for future development. South Africa firmly adheres to the one-China principle and stands ready to work closely with the Chinese side under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, strengthen communication and coordination in international affairs, and jointly safeguard multilateralism. South Africa appreciates the Chinese side for its zero-tariff policy towards Africa, which is an important step for both sides to achieve modernization together and promote sustainable global development.
Also on June 4, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Du Xiaohui and Zane Dangor held political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
