On June 11, 2026, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the 2026 Forum on Global Human Rights Governance in Beijing.
Miao Deyu stated that the current international landscape is characterized by intertwined turbulence and instability, posing complex challenges to global human rights governance. Taking the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration on the Right to Development as an opportunity, China stands ready to work with all countries to practice President Xi Jinping’s important vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the four major global initiatives. This will promote better realization of common development and inject new impetus into the international human rights cause. We must put people first and address the most direct and pressing practical concerns of the people, such as clothing, food, housing, and transportation. We must uphold independence and self-determination, respecting each country’s right to independently choose its own path of human rights development. We must promote comprehensive and balanced progress, advancing the United Nations’ three pillars of peace and security, development, and human rights in a balanced manner. We must pursue universal benefit and shared prosperity, broadly mobilizing global development resources. We must strengthen exchanges and mutual learning, promoting the building of a fair, reasonable, and inclusive global human rights governance system.
Miao Deyu stated that China will unswervingly promote high-quality development and high-standard opening up, sharing opportunities and seeking cooperation with all countries. Together, we will build a modern world featuring peaceful development, mutually beneficial cooperation, and common prosperity, continuously turning the beautiful vision of the Declaration on the Right to Development into reality. He expressed his hope that guests would take this opportunity to experience firsthand a thriving, innovative China in the new era—a China that walks hand in hand with other nations to jointly advance the cause of global peace and human progress.
At the opening ceremony, representatives from member units of the joint meeting mechanism for the National Human Rights Action Plan jointly released the National Human Rights Action Plan of China (2026-2030).
