On September 9, 2026, Assistant Foreign Minister and Director-General of the Protocol Department of the Foreign Ministry Hong Lei accepted the copy of credentials from Caspar Veldkamp, new Head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to China. Head of Delegation Caspar Veldkamp arrived in China on September 1.
