China and Bolivia

The friendly relations and cooperation between the People's Republic of China and the Multinational States of Bolivia grew steadily in 2010.

Political mutual trust continued to deepen. In July, President Hu Jintao and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi sent messages to President Huan Evo Morales Ayma and Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca Céspedes respectively to express congratulations on the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Bolivia. In August, the Bolivian government expressed condolences over the losses caused by floods and mudslides in several provinces in China. The Chinese government offered US$50,000 assistance in cash to the Bolivian government to help it put out the massive forest fire. In November, NPC Chairman Wu Bangguo sent a congratulatory message to new President of the Chamber of Senators Rene Martínez on his election. Secretary of the ruling party Movimientoal Socialismo Leonida Surida Bargas, Minister of Defense Rubèn Saavedra Soto, Minister of Economy and Public Finance Luis Alberto Arce Catacora and a delegation of young officials of the Movimientoal Socialismo visited China respectively.

Business ties grew rapidly with expanding areas of cooperation. In December, China Great Wall Industry Corporation and the Bolivian Space Administration signed a commercial contract for the China-Bolivia satellite cooperation project. The two countries maintained close communication and cooperation in international affairs.
