The year 2010 marked the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the People's Republic of China and the Principality of Liechtenstein, and friendly relations and cooperation between the two sides continued to grow.

From 30 August to 3 September, Hereditary Prince Alois and Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Finance, Family and Equal Opportunity Dr. Klaus Tschuetscher came to China for the National Pavilion Day activities of Liechtenstein at the Shanghai World Expo. Vice President Xi Jinping met with them and held a banquet in their honor. Vice President Xi pointed out that the bilateral ties made smooth progress in the past 60 years of diplomatic relations, as evidenced by ever closer exchanges and cooperation across the board, and that the combination of Liechtenstein's economic and technological advantages and China's vast market would deliver win-win results to both sides. He expressed appreciation of the Chinese side for Liechtenstein's commitment to the one China policy and recognition of China's full market economy status. Hereditary Prince Alois and Dr. Tschuetscher stated that the Liechtenstein government highly valued its relationship with China and appreciated China's policy of treating all countries, regardless of their sizes, as equals. They hoped that the two countries would strengthen cooperation in economy, trade, culture, tourism, stamp and other fields, and thanked China for inviting Liechtenstein to participate in the Shanghai World Expo, believing that the event would enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. The Memorandum of Understanding Between the Principality of Liechtenstein and the People's Republic of China on Recognizing the People's Republic of China as a Full Market Economy by the Principality of Liechtenstein was signed during the visit. From 28 October to 3 November, Dr. Martin Meyer, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Construction and Public Works, attended the closing ceremony of the Shanghai World Expo in China. From 16 to 24 May, Dr. Aurelia Frick, Minister and Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Cultural Affairs, came to China for the 2010 Global Summit of Women and visited the Shanghai World Expo.

The two countries enjoyed dynamic cultural exchanges. During the Shanghai World Expo, Liechtenstein set up an Expo Pavilion in its capital Vaduz, and opened an online pavilion. Post of Liechtenstein AG issued Shanghai World Expo commemorative stamps. On 15 July, the Photo Exhibition of Charming Zhejiang and the Exhibition of Arts of Paper-cutting of China, Switzerland and Liechtenstein were held in Vaduz. On 14 September, a joint concert by the Liechtenstein Symphony Orchestra and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra was staged for the National Pavilion Day activities of Liechtenstein at the Shanghai World Expo. From 11 to 12 October, Rising East-New Chinese Architecture 2000-2010 was held in Vaduz. On 8 December, a grand symphony concert by the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra was held in Theater Schaan in Liechtenstein.
