On September 27, 2023, Ambassador Zhao Weiping and his wife hosted a reception at the Embassy in celebration of the 74th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, which was attended by about 300 guests, including H.E. Penehupifo Pohamba, Former First Lady of the Republic of Namibia, Secretary General of the SWAPO Party, about 20 Senior Government officials of Ministers, Governors and Deputy Ministers, representatives from all walks of life, the Chinese community and diplomatic corps.

In his remarks, Ambassador Zhao recalled the enormous achievements China has made under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and also briefed the audience of the current situation of Chinese economy as well as the concept of a global community of shared future. Ambassador Zhao stressed that the Chinese economy will continue its trend of steady improvement and the development of China will bring even greater opportunity for the world. Ambassador Zhao spoke highly of China-Namibia relations and said that the Chinese side stands ready with the Namibian side to deepen China-Namibia Comprehensive Strategic and Cooperative Partnership.

Hon. Jennelly Matundu, Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of Namibia read a message of congratulations from Hon. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation. The Deputy Prime Minister praised China’s achievements in its development and reaffirmed Namibia’s firm support for One-China policy and commitment to develop China-Namibia friendly relations.
