State Councilor Yang Jiechi Meets with Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid

On May 10, 2013, Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with Salman Khurshid, the visiting Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, in Beijing.

Yang Jiechi noted that China and India are both major developing countries with great influence in the world. The rapid development of bilateral relationship between the two countries in recent years has brought concrete benefits to the two peoples and made important contributions to regional and world peace and development. China attaches great importance to the relations with India, and is willing to work with India to implement the important agreements reached by the two state leaders, maintain high-level contact and further promote the strategic cooperative partnership of the two countries, and at the same time, continue to push forward he process of border negotiations, safeguarding peace and stability in border areas.

Khurshid said that as two big developing countries, the cooperation between India and China is crucially important to the two sides as well as to the world. India is willing to take the opportunity of the exchange of high-level visits, joining its efforts with China to expand bilateral cooperation in various aspects, properly handle differences and open a new chapter in bilateral relations.
